Touching Lives Through Social Media

Touching Lives Through Social Media

Keeping relationships or associations is inherent among humans. Wherever we go, we need companionship of some level. We create associations in workplaces, schools, church group or neighborhood. We keep in touch with old friends or relatives from far places. We establish a long term and profound relationship with a beloved partner that we want to spend the rest of our lives with. But sometimes, we just want to lend a helping hand to someone who we barely know.
It is for these reasons that we employ different facilities that will help us connect with other people. Even from centuries ago, people send messages of endearment through courier services. The advent of telecommunications technology enabled voice conversations between two people from different and far locations. But in the present era, the internet is where most people turn to connect with just about anyone that they wanted to hear from at the moment.
How The Internet Technology Helped People In Keeping Relationships
The internet, being a multi-functional facility, enables people to do a lot of things, particularly, when it comes to keeping relationships. Even during the first few years of existence of this technology, people are already utilizing the internet in sending emails or chatting with friends. However, as this technology changed and evolved in just a few years’ time to high speed internet, people were able to do a lot more possibilities like voice or video chat. And the latest craze in the internet that almost everyone is into these days regardless of age, lifestyle and gender, is the social media.
How Social Media Affects People’s Relationships
Different social media sites make it easy and fun to connect with our friends, relatives, co-workers, spouses and kids of people we are associated with or just about anyone we know who exists. It is with the following reasons that social media sites touch people’s lives:
Social media sites allow account owners to let people know about their present situation. Social media sites allow us to post interesting photos, update new work, location, or status information, or just air out what’s running in our minds. This way, we know that people who are connected in our accounts knows what’s going on in our lives even if circumstances does not allow the luxury of time to hang out.
Social media sites provide easy sources of inspirations that people can share.  Sometimes, we find messages, quotations, acts of goodwill that we find inspiring and worth sharing to others. Whether these are from some applications or something that is shared by another friend, it is always easy to share these through social media sites. The wonders of this act come in when someone in the network happens to relate to or be uplifted by something that is shared for everyone.
Social media sites make it easy to encourage, commend, or give a message of any form to anyone. While it is easy to let other people know about what’s keeping you through social media sites, it is likewise, easy to respond to someone’s posts. Short comments can mean a lot as long as it is sincere. Simple ‘likes’ that accumulates to a significant amount can make someone feel special.
Social media sites are continually evolving and it is expected to thrive with more and more people opening and checking their accounts every now and then. With the dominance of this means of connecting to people, time will soon come when it will take over as one of the best means of communication.
